Ferries link Cebu and Bohol every day, and most travellers use one of three Bohol ports: Tagbilaran, Tubigon or Getafe. This page explains the Cebu to Bohol ferry options and the Bohol to Cebu return trip, so you can pick the right port, the right type of ferry and the right time of day. Departure times for each route are listed below, with the date we last checked them and where they come from.

Cebu to Tagbilaran ferry (and Tagbilaran to Cebu)

Tagbilaran is Bohol's capital and its busiest ferry port, with the most departures from Cebu. OceanJet runs fastcraft that cross in about 2 hours, while Lite Ferries runs a slower RoRo ferry that takes about 4 hours. Tagbilaran is the best choice for Panglao Island, the Alona Beach resorts and Loboc River day trips.

The Tagbilaran to Cebu ferry makes the same crossing in the other direction. Return departure times are not simply a copy of the outbound times, so check the return sailings before you plan your day. See the Cebu to Tagbilaran ferry timetable and fares.

  • ▸ In September 2026 OceanJet cancelled the 12:20 PM and 6:40 PM Cebu to Tagbilaran trips and the 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM Tagbilaran to Cebu trips for two weeks. We found no newer notice, so these trips may or may not be running now.

Cebu to Tubigon ferry (and Tubigon to Cebu)

Tubigon is a short crossing from Cebu and sits on Bohol's northwest coast. It suits travellers heading to the Chocolate Hills or northern Bohol, and its RoRo ferries can carry cars and motorbikes. Lite Ferries runs the most frequent service, with a crossing of about 2 hours. Other operators, including FastCat, are listed by some timetable sites, so check before you go. Local transport sources put the road trip from Tubigon to Tagbilaran at about 45 minutes by non-stop van, and to the Chocolate Hills at about an hour.

The Tubigon to Cebu ferry returns on the same corridor. See the Cebu to Tubigon ferry timetable and fares.

Cebu to Getafe ferry (and Getafe to Cebu)

Getafe is on Bohol's northern coast and has fewer sailings than Tagbilaran or Tubigon. It is useful if you are heading for northern Bohol and want to avoid the long road trip from Tagbilaran. OceanJet fastcraft cross in roughly 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. Because departures are limited, plan your day around the Getafe to Cebu return sailing. Bohol to Cebu ferry: planning the return trip

Every Cebu to Bohol route also runs as a Bohol to Cebu ferry. Check the last departure before you commit to a day trip, especially for Getafe, which has few sailings, and for slower RoRo ferries that can sail late in the evening.

  • ▸Book your return ahead in busy periods such as Holy Week, Christmas and long weekends.
  • ▸Arrive 45 to 60 minutes before a fastcraft departure; larger ferries close check-in earlier.
  • ▸Carry a valid photo ID. Student, senior and PWD discounts need ID: see our ferry discounts guide.
  • ▸Check current ferry cancellations and sea conditions before you leave for the port.

Cebu to Bohol ferry fares and tickets

Fares depend on the operator, the type of ferry and the class you choose. Open-air and economy seats on RoRo ferries usually cost the least, while fastcraft cost more because they are faster. A terminal fee is paid separately at the port. For current fares, see the Cebu to Tagbilaran, Cebu to Tubigon and Cebu to Getafe pages. Philippines Ferry does not sell tickets, so book with the operator or at the port ticket office.

What to see in Bohol

  • ▸Chocolate Hills: more than 1,200 cone-shaped limestone hills near Carmen, one of the best-known natural landmarks in the Philippines.
  • ▸Philippine tarsier: one of the world's smallest primates and native to Bohol. The Philippine Tarsier Foundation has been based in Corella since 1996.
  • ▸Panglao Island: just southwest of Tagbilaran and joined to Bohol by road bridges. It is routinely listed among the world's top diving locations and has more than 70 dive centres. Bohol–Panglao International Airport has handled domestic flights since 2018.
  • ▸Loboc River: runs through the middle of the island, and river cruises are a popular day trip from the Tagbilaran area.
  • ▸North Bohol Fault: the "Great Wall of Bohol" was uncovered by the magnitude 7.2 earthquake of 15 October 2013, which also damaged a number of Bohol's heritage churches.
  • ▸Bohol is the tenth-largest island in the Philippines, about 4,821 square kilometres, and Tagbilaran is its capital and largest city.

From Tagbilaran Port, the Alona Beach area on Panglao is roughly 30 to 45 minutes away by road, depending on traffic. Plan your first night near your arrival port so you are not travelling across the island after dark. More ideas in our Bohol ferry guide and Cebu to Bohol ferry duration guide.
